Nature guardian homeschool figurine craft Tasmania

Autumn / Winter projects for homeschooling in Tasmania - crafting a Nature Guardian Fairy

Eco-friendly Tasmanian homeschool activities

Nature Fairy using seashells, local timber, wool and seeds.

Recently whilst in the garden I was urged to pick a very large rosehip. This inspired a return to building the little nature figurines that we love to build for homeschool.

It is a simple absorbing project that completely takes you away for an hour or so. I think a lot of this is using natural objects we find around us, and crafting them so that they may blend into the garden should they come to life.

For the next figure, I simplified the project even further by using a few left over items from the forage.

Real life May Gibbs style figurine.

The resulting nature figure.

In a short time the next nature guardian evolved. The base is a wood offcut, with seed husk feet from pine cones, a sheoke body and a poppy seed pod for a head. The felt and little gumnut added decoration.
