“Once the taste for connection with ourselves, family, community and the world around us begins there is no turning back.”
“Homeschooling“changes everything”….the journey you are considering or beginning right now has the potential to take you, and your children to the pinnacle of who you really are.
Our aim is to give you inspiration and tools to make your homeschool life easier and more heartfelt for you and your family.
“Home is where the heart is.” Being still and spending more time within the home allows for less stress, more connection and RYTHYM! Children who feel relaxed are more able to experience childhood in a fulfilling way. It is difficult to have connection and rhythm if we are constantly running from one activity or group to the next. When we do, there is less time to listen to our inner selves. As our family has progressed with homeschooling, we have gradually begun to limit our outside activities to two or three outings per week. Usually one outing will be with a family of our children’s ages, and the other outings will be to the library or a family outing. I find that any more than two activities for our family and I start to see behavioural changes, particularly in my younger children (and myself!).
Young children love being at home. From recent personal experience I have begun to see how much younger children thrive on the family foundation and routine*. I am certainly not an academic, but I can speak from experience: combining increased home time, cutting screen time, and incorporating a strong rhythm has improved our family life 100%. Don’t take it from me; try it for yourself!
*Read some of Waldorf Steiner educational basics or look up the listed Waldorf websites in my reference section for a more academic understanding of why certain childhood educators believe this to be the case.

There are many factors involved in making the choice to home educate, and only you will know what creates little or no conflict within your soul and in your family life. There is no right or wrong in this matter, but rather each person needs to be persuaded of his own ”soul knowing” about what you desire to achieve, learn, and heal within your and your children’s lives. Knowing how best to approach your child’s schooling is simply done by listening to your heart. If something causes you and your child to feel ongoing conflict and uncomfortable body sensations, then maybe looking deeper into available choices is something from which you and your family could benefit. But, the most important thing to remember is that there is NO right or wrong answer.
We use nature in our homeschooling life because it offers a rich, hands-on learning environment that inspires curiosity, creativity, and a deeper connection to the world around us. Time outdoors encourages observation, movement, and mindfulness, while providing endless opportunities to explore science, art, storytelling, and practical life skills. Whether it’s identifying birds, tending a garden, or simply walking through the bush, nature helps ground our learning in real experiences that nurture both the mind and spirit. Here are some free homeschool downloads to help connect your homescooling to nature.
Birds are one of the best nature subjects for homeschooling, providing scope for a wide variety of lessons; from art through to maths. A good way to start is identification of Australian Birds, and we offer a free homeschooling ebook here for you to begin. Simply click on the button below.
