In 2023 we moved to a property that many people had given up on.
The gardens were all but gone, the soil tired and the buildings derelict.
But beneath it all was potential — good soil, clean water and a beautiful landscape.
Since then we have been slowly rebuilding the farm.
Planting gardens. Restoring soil. Establishing a young orchard. Learning what grows well in this place.
The farm is still evolving, and visitors become part of that story.
The garden is the heart of the farm.
Here we grow seasonal vegetables, herbs and edible flowers using simple regenerative principles.
Much of what we grow finds its way into the breakfast hampers provided for guests staying at the cabin and shepherd’s hut.
The garden at The Little Garden Farm is not just a place to grow food — it is a place to explore ideas.
Throughout the season we host small garden walks and practical workshops that share the thinking behind the garden as it evolves.
Topics often include:
• building soil fertility with worm farms and simple biological systems
• growing vegetables for flavour, productivity and resilience
• designing gardens that can continue producing in uncertain times
• working with ecology rather than against it
• creating gardens that are beautiful, abundant and low-input
The garden itself is a living demonstration of these ideas as we slowly restore an old farm and bring new life back into the soil.
Behind the scenes sits a lifetime of practical experience — establishing farms and gardens, revegetation projects and productive landscapes.
Those experiences quietly shape the way this garden is designed and grown.
Workshops and walks are small, relaxed and conversational.
