Winter planting ready for the farmgate stall on Bruny Island

A lovely mid winters sunny day has us renovating a few beds – and moving cabbages, onions, and garlic around – ready for the farmgate stall on Bruny Island. Winter is awesome in Tasmania. A time for pulling back, recuperating and preparing for spring. And when the sun does shine it feels better than any sunny spring day. But come spring and we say the same about summer. This week we have spaced a few cabbages out ready for spring and planted out a large number more seedlings. Always trying things, we have found that growing them tight, then spacing them out later allows us to maintain less over winter. Hopefully this leads to a large surplus to put into the new farmgate stall.
